After several minutes, I slow down and then get no response when on Firefox. IE, AOL works OK. I close with task mangr. Slect Firefox and it goes from using 7% of CPU to 50% according to Reliability and Performance Monitor on Vista Business

Check for faulty extensions. In my experience, some webpages will cause Firefox to use up a lot of CPU cycles, but only when some extensions are installed.
