My anti-virus tells me it has blocked hxxp.utils.cdneurope.com/js.link-ff.js each time I open Firefox.

VirusTotal suggests that this is a malware site however the ratio is only 2/57 which is really bad

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

You may well have edited that uri, which is a good idea if it is suspected of being malware.


General Information If you get this every time you open Firefox it could be a file on your computer; maybe cached, or possibly relating to a tab that you open each time. It could relate to some out and out malware already present.

A very important point is that this is the general support forum for Firefox we are not security & malware experts. There are many reputable & good free sites that will offer free advice.

No AV service detects everything, and all will sometimes give false positives. IIRC Avast has produced some odd results lately and possibly blocked good addons for instance.

The Avast forum already has a thread possibly related to your subject

Scan for malware and then please report back to say what you did, what the results were and whether the problem is solved ?


Scan with multiple up to date tools please Run scans with multiple and up-to-date tools. Hopefully malware will be easily detected and removed. Incidentally I would not suggest you try any manual hacks or edits of the Windows registry. (Once rogue files are removed any residual registry entry will not normally do any harm.)

You need to use multiple and up-to-date tools as they will not all pick up the same things.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good FREE permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
