Whenever I attempt to play an Ogg video in Firefox for Mobile, the playback is choppy, with video playing back at about 1fps and audio cutting in and out. The following video plays fine on my desktop install (Firefox 7.0.1 for OS X):

Hi,

I experience this same choppy playback with Firefox 7.0.1 on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. However, when I use the new nightly build, it plays perfectly.

So, I wish that I could help you to fix the problem with 7.0.1, but I suspect that it has to do with the way it is rendering the page and that is why the nightly build plays it correctly, because even the Aurora build (firefox 9) has the choppy playback.

Nightly builds are unstable and cannot be updated by the android market. To install the nightly build, go to http://wiki.mozilla.org/Fennec/NativeUI and then tap the ftp link in the Nightly Builds section of that page, then tap the first fennec-10.0a1.en-US.android-arm.apk file to download it.

The file will be in your Firefox 7 Downloads when it completes. So, you'll need to swipe left and tap the round gear button in Firefox 7 to get to Preferences, then tap Downloads to find the file, then tap the install button associated with that file.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll check the bug database and get one filed if this isn't a known issue with ogg file playback.
