I understand that some people want to do everything by typing into the address bar, and only in the address bar. On the other hand ever since November 1993 I have known the difference between a u.r.l. and Search. In fact in the latest incarnation of Firefox I have a new Search field provided by the Speed Dial addon in addition to the Search field that Firefox has always provided. That's 2 search fields ready and waiting.

So I have no trouble doing a search and have never needed or wanted to type a search term into the address field, and don't ever intend to.

Yes, I tried all the ways I can find to disable "search" in the address field to no avail. Google don't know, and about:config don't work.

Why do I not want Search to F#@$U addresses? Ok, Search ignores IP addresses thank god! Try typing http://max2play/ in the address field and see what you get? You won't be very happy when you get max2play.com when you're trying to contact max2play running in local device. Wouldn't it be nice if one of the Search Engines was "No Search"? Who put search in the address bar anyway? Some committee?
