Firefox not loading tabs from last session
I am having the same issue as was reported in: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/981141
I have tried all the solutions suggested in these forums. I completely uninstalled firefox, removed all associated files and then reinstalled it, and still had the same problem. The pinned and other tabs disappear, the entire session disappears. I don't even have an option to open recently closed windows or tabs. I have this issue on 2 separate computers and am stumped about what to do. If this continues I will have to switch to Chrome as I can't keep on losing my tabs

Does Firefox create a new sessionstore.js file?
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

I opened a few tabs, closed Firefox, and then re-opened it and the tabs and session were gone. The history was still there so I was able to get some of the tabs back from there but the "recently closed tabs" and "recently closed windows" options were grayed out.

Could you take a look at what Firefox is saving "in real time"? Here's how:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
In the first table on the page, click the "Open Show Folder" button
Scroll down and look for sessionstore.js and adjust the display so you can see the timestamp showing when it was last modified. You probably also will find sessionstore.bak.
Do you find any extra files, such as sessionstore-1.js or other numbered files? If so, that indicates that Firefox cannot write to the main sessionstore.js file because it is locked or corrupted, and your windows/tabs are being saved in a numbered file. Unfortunately, Firefox can't actually restore any of those files automatically. In this situation, I believe you need to remove the sessionstore.js file (after exiting out of Firefox) and copy the latest numbered file to sessionstore.js.
As you browse, sessionstore.js (or the numbered file, if applicable) should be updated every 15 seconds with any changes in your tabs. Can you see that happening?
Resize the Firefox window so you can see it and the file list side-by-side. Then exit out of Firefox.
Does the file get updated again, or does it get erased, or does anything else happen to it?
The next time you start Firefox, if you keep your eye on sessionstore.js, file size and time stamp, does anything unusual happen to it?

Interesting. I tried this. The computer I am using now suddenly started working properly. I will have to try this on the other one. If I recall correctly, before I reinstalled everything there were numbered sessionstore files
