Firefox beta won't automatically update anymore

I've been using the Firefox beta channel on my Win 7 laptop for quite some time now. I started with the 64-bit version and it worked fine with the frequent automatic updates. Usually I would check by navigating to the Main Menu > Open Help Menu > About Firefox dialog. This would check for new updates and install them if there were any.

Several weeks ago I switched from the 64-bit to 32-bit version of the beta channel to test some add-on issues. I switched by downloading the 32-bit installer and installing it without uninstalling the 64-bit version. I then uninstalled the 64-bit version, and ever since then, Firefox won't update automatically or through the Main Menu > Open Help Menu > About Firefox dialog. Every time I want to update it, I have to download the installer file.

Could you provide some guidance on how to resolve this issue? I've uninstalled 32-bit version and reinstalled with no effect.
