Latest Release is Firefox 46.0.1 on www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ which came out today.

The 47.0b2 is a Beta channel build and not a Release. The b2 means it is the second Beta build for 47.0. There can be say six to twelve Beta builds for a version.

You say you have the previous Firefox 45.0.2 well your useragent shows as User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 OWASMIME/4.0500

Your Firefox identified itself to the forum as version 42. If Help > About Firefox shows Firefox 45.0.2, you may need to clear the preference that is misreporting your version number. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

I just did an update from the installer and it now shows 46.0.1 as being up to date. Weather.com still saying it is outdated and should be 47.0b2. How do I get this? The site you recommended says "This article is no longer maintained, so its content might be out of date. "

Hi kimmers971, what is your browser now telling websites? You can view your user agent string on my test page here (it appears in red):

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php

If it doesn't show this:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0

Then go ahead and follow the steps in the older support article. As far as I know, they haven't changed.

Also, I do not get such a message from the Weather.com home page with Firefox 46. Please test again after fixing the preference. If you still see that message, what page do you get that on?

Browser "User Agent" string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 OWASMIME/4.0500

Popup from weather.com is attached.

Help, about Firefox shows 46.0.1 as being up to date.

All other sites are working fine.

Okay, I think you can find the source of that by searching for any preference which includes the unusual text "OWASMIME":

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste OWASMIME and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If that shows up in any preference that starts with general.useragent then either:

(A) If you can't think of any reason for your browser to tell sites anything about "OWASMIME", then right-click > Reset those preferences to restore their default values

(B) If it's important for your browser to tell sites your OWASMIME version for some reason, right-click > Modify on the preference, and change 42 to 46 in every place it appears and then click OK to save the change

Reload Weather.com and see whether that resolves the issue.

The article is marked outdated because this useragent being changed has not been much of a issue since Firefox 4.0 as UA's then could not be modified by extensions anymore.

I would not have linked to the article if it was not still relevant in fixing your useragent problem.

You may be using Firefox 46.0.1 but as you show with your useragent you have yet to follow the instructions in article to fix it ;) hence why Weather.com is still saying it is outdated.

Also where are you seeing that you should be using 47.0b2 ?. The 47.0b2 is Not a Release but a Beta build on one of the four development channels. Release (currently 46.0.1) > Beta (b#) > Aurora (a2) (developers edition) > Nightly (a1).

I reached out to Weather.com and got this reply: Thank you for reaching out to us! There seems to be an issue with Firefox where the update is partially loading. Please go through the steps to update your browser once more. The latest version should be 47.0b2. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for being a fan of The Weather Channel!

I now have 46.0.1 and the site still does not work. I guess I'll use another weather site, this is not worth the aggravation.

If it was an email, could you send them this reply:

Mozilla support requested that I send you this information: The current release of Firefox is 46.0.1. Version 47.0b2 is a beta test version not recommended for typical users, and as an unfinished release may cause other issues for them. If your site does not work correctly with Firefox 46.0.1, and you believe it is a problem with Firefox, please file a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi and work with the developers to resolve the issue.

I'm not sure whether you use Weather.com just for the current situtation and forecasts, or also for the stories. Some of their stories might be unique, but for other weather information, you could check out http://www.accuweather.com/, https://www.wunderground.com/ and the U.S. National Weather Service site http://www.weather.gov/.

The person who said that the 47.0b2 is the latest must not be checking www.mozilla.org but checking a random download site that has Firefox listed. Some of these sites list not only the Firefox Releases but also the Beta channel builds and if a Beta build is out after a Release it can get listed as current on the site.

Did you link this thread in your email?

The Weather.com does work for me with Firefox 46.0.1 on Linux as I do not get the browser update message that blocks access.
