I wanted to update my ZTE Open C from 1.4 to 2.1. When I update it from the official Mozilla Nightly system images from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/b2g/nightly/ everything is good except the font is tiny. I tried to apply the font fix but it doesn't work. Any idea how to fix this ?

Hi RazorMKD,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues when manually updating your ZTE Open C device to v2.1 using the links provided on MDN.

I have written to the dev-b2g and the community-b2g mailing lists to see if anyone else has experienced this in the past.

Which image are you using to flash your device? Do you also have issues when attempting an older image?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi RazorMKD,

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry to hear that you also have issues when flashing your ZTE Open C with with older versions of the Flame build.

Can you please explain the steps you are taking to flash your device? Flashing the ZTE Open C device with a Flame image requires a shallow flash, since the Gonk its may not work correctly on the ZTE Open C.

Where did you purchase the device? Can you also attempt to flash your device with ZTE's commercial rooted build to see if this issue persists? Please follow this link for the files and further instructions.

Please let us know the results.

In the meantime, I contacted developers in the dev-b2g mailing list so that others can chime in with possible solutions.

I believe that we had a font change: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1032874#c5

There's a link to the fonts that we are using in that comment and you should be able to flash the new font onto the device if you have root access to the phone.

I use the command: ./shallow_flash.sh --gaia=gaia.zip --gecko=b2g-34.0.en-US.android-arm.tar.gz2 and everything goes great but when it boots the font is tiny. I tried flashing the fonts with the font fix zip from here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/ZTE_OPEN_C but it doesn't work and i also tried the update_system_fonts.sh script but that doesn't work too. I bought my phone from Ebay.

EDIT: When I flash the stock rom and use the Open C upgrade tool everything is ok but when i use the nightlies i get the tiny font issue. But i use a Firefox OS custom build with a kitkat base before i flash the nightlies because the stock ZTE rom uses a jellybean base for the Firefox OS rom.
