How to download a file
To download a file
- Tap on a download link.
- A download confirmation appears, this shows the file name and size.
Tap the button to confirm you want to download the file. - When the download is finished, the Download completed message appears.
Tap the button to view the file with some app installed in your device.
To download a PDF file
- Click on the link of the PDF you want to download. The PDF will automatically open in Firefox.
- Tap the three dots at the bottom right of the screen.
- Tap to open the file in your default PDF viewer.
Alternatively, you can navigate to your downloaded files by tapping the three dots on the bottom right side of the screen, then tap to see a list of your downloaded files.
To download an image
- Tap and hold on the image you want to download.
- Select .
- When the download is finished, the Download completed message appears.
Tap the button to view the image.
View and delete download files
You can view and delete your downloaded files from the Downloads page in Firefox.
- Tap the menu button
- Tap
. A list of files downloaded in Firefox for Android appears.
- Tap a file in the list to open it.
To remove a download
- Tap the trash icon
to the right of the file you want to remove from the download list.
- A "Delete file?" prompt may appear. Select "Only remove from download history" to only remove the history entry, while keeping the file on your device, or select "Delete from device" to also delete the file from your device.
- Tap Confirm.
A confirmation notification appears briefly, with an option to Undo.
To remove multiple or all downloads
- Tap and hold on one of the files in the list to be able to select multiple items.
- Tap the items you want to delete.
- To select all downloads, tap the three-dot button to the right and select Select all in the menu.
- Tap the three-dot button to the right and select Remove in the menu.
- A "Delete {count} files?" prompt may appear. Select "Only remove from download history" to only remove the history entries, while keeping the files on your device, or select "Delete from device" to also delete the files from your device.
- Tap Confirm.
A confirmation notification appears briefly, with an option to Undo.
To set a default action on download removal
By default, every time you try to remove a download, Firefox will ask you whether to remove the file from your device or just remove the download entry from history. You can set Firefox to always do one of those without asking:
- Tap the menu button
- Tap .
- Scroll down to Advanced and tap .
- Under Delete or remove downloads, select:
- Remove from download history to always only remove download entries from history. Downloaded files will not be removed from your device.
- Delete from device to always delete downloaded files from your device in addition to removing download entries from history.
- Ask when I delete files to keep the default behavior when Firefox asks you what to do every time.
Filter downloaded files
You can filter your downloaded files from the Downloads page in Firefox. Follow these steps.
- Tap the menu button.
- Select to open all downloads you've done in Firefox.
- Along the top of the screen you will see different file types. Select a category to see downloads relevant to that group or select to see all file downloads available.
Share downloads
- Tap the menu button.
- Select to open all downloads you've done in Firefox.
- On the download you wish to share, select the three-dot menu
.
- A small menu will open, tap or .
- Select the app or platform you wish to share the download on.
