I have a HTC Hero with Android 2,1. I downloaded Firefox and installed it using the apps. installer. As soon as I started Firefox I get a black screen and then it returns to Android desktop.

The normal Firefox mobile is not compatible with the HTC Hero, you may be able to run the experimental nightly ARMv6 builds on the HTC Hero. For more details see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platf.../Android, in particular the system requirements section.
