Are you aware Firefox (at least prior to 7.0) eats up RAM the longer it stays open, especially with many tabs open?

I have used Firefox on many computers, and even if I am running Windows 7, Firefox will cause the RAM usage to climb percentage wise the longer it is open and this is exacerbated when there are many tabs open. Once this occurs, closing tabs (especially if there is a flash or video component being utilized) will help, but the RAM generally stays spiked until you close the browser. I have a ton of resources on my power box I have at home so it is nt much of an issue, but on my laptop and other computers it is a real resource hog, especially if there is limited RAM. Are you aware of this (I know folks have complained of memory leaks before, but I am not sure what the details were), and if so, is this corrected in 7.0? Thanks much for your time.
