Problem displaying unified folders
Hi, Since the last update of thunderbird to version 115.0.1 (64 bits), the display of unified folders is impossible. Has anyone had this same problem?

This question has been asked many times, so I'm providing some information on how to put the Menu Bar above the Unified Toolbar.

The 'Message Header' is the area above where the message content of an opened email is displayed. It typically contains a set of buttons - Reply, Forward, Archive, Junk, Delete and More It shows From, To, Subject and Date It may show other information depending upon settings and type of email.
Do you find the spacing between eg: the 'From' line and the 'TO' line is too much? Do you want to reduce this gap? If yes, then the following information may solve your problem.

The problem affects Mozilla Thunderbird v.115.3.1. I have local folders with subfolders and subfolders within them. Until now, subfolders expanded only after clicking on the folder. And it was very convenient. Now subfolders expand as soon as the mouse hovers over the folder name. This is very uncomfortable. Is it possible to return to the previous solution in the settings?

Hello,
The new UI has this massive customizable toolbar at the top of the screen, it wastes a lot of space and doesn't look good compared to the old UI, you can fully customize it even leaving it blank but that does not remove it entirely and it looks off with just a blank nothing up there, where is the option to completely remove this new toolbar?

Hi,
My reading pane on v115 will only adjust downwards but I would like to adjust it upwards as was possible in previous versions.
Just to confirm what I mean, it will only go down, so making the reading pane smaller (or disapppear) and the thread pane larger.
I would like to make it go the opposite way, upwards to make the thread pane smaller.
Is there some code, css etc that can make it happen correctly?

If you have enabled the Menu Bar, maybe you find it is the same colour as the Unified folder and want to change it. Maybe you want to change the colour of the opened Tabs. Read the information below to help you use 'userChrome.css' and tailor make your own Thunderbird.

I have a userChrome.css to change the color of unread messages in the "list of messages" pane to orange:
/* Messagepane text */ treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(new) {
color: #34ebdc !important; font-weight: normal;
} treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) {

}
This worked fine in TB 102 and prior. When I upgraded to TB 115 this no longer has any effect. I'm not sure if the userChrome.css is being ignored or if the styling elements in userChrome.css have changed.
I'm on Windows 11 and userChrome.css is located in 2 places: C:\Users\$username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\$profile.default\chrome\userChrome.css C:\Users\$username\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\$profile.default\chrome\userChrome.css

Many times now, I have needed to change folder views to 'Unthreaded', ditch 'Correspondents' in favour of 'From' and 'Recipient' and arrange my emails in descending date order. Every time I create a new folder, I need to go through the same routine. Every time I download a new version of Thunderbird, all my folders are changed back to 'Threaded' and 'Correspondents' and are in Ascending date order, so I have to go through the whole process again. What I need is a simple 'global' setting in a menu, so that I can change the settings for ALL my Thunderbird folders in a simple series of clicks, without needing to go to each folder every time. Better still would be a 'once for all' fix that would prevent Thunderbird changing my settings every time I download a new version. There must be thousands of Thunderbird users who share my frustration with what is lotherwise an excellent email program. Please fix it!

Hello,
a few days ago I switched to the new version 115 and I find it very nice. In my daily work, I use View > Folders > Unread Folders most often.
If I now open unread mails in a folder, the folder is actually no longer an "unread folder". In the "old" version of Thunderbird, folders were refreshed at irregular intervals and folders were automatically hidden when there were no more new mails to read.
This no longer happens with 115. Here the read folders remain visible all day or until I manually select View > Folders > Unread Folders again.
I would therefore be very pleased if this old function were possible again.
Thank you and best regards from Berlin Florian

Yesterday I tried the 115 (Supernova) and I was disappointed because of the toolbar on top of the TB window: I think that you should let the user choose where put any toolbar, and I didn't find the way to move in its "classical" place (not at top but below the menu). There is a way to do it? And if not, please consider to give it as soon as possible.

Every year in this season Thunderbird ESR(!!!) switches to a new version. Every year the new version is a lot worse of previous. Every year it introduces a lot of cosmetical changes that tha majority of users haven't requested nor approve. You're incompetent developers. You're ignorant men.
This version has changed a setting: I don't want that Thunderbird update itself automatically but you think that you know what it's better for me! You are morons! Regards

My Thunderbird just got updated to v. 115, I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 with KDE/Plasma 5.18. I have two questions, one of which is possibly a bug.
1. The new layout places a lot of buttons in the window title. How do I remove them? I'd like a standard window title like most of the other app (say, Okular) have.
2. My window manager works with focus-follows-mouse, and a window is raised whenever I click on the window borders or title. With Thunderbird 115 that doesn't work anymore: if the Thunderbird window is partly below some other window, and I click on its borders or title, it is *not* raised. How to fix this? Should I report a bug?
Cheers!

It is annoying when a redesign of Thunderbird (Supernova) says it gives maximum customization options, but in fact moves something - the Thunderbird/Application Menu icon (hamburger button) - whose position apparently can't be customized!
How can I move the Application Menu (three-bar, hamburger menu) from the right hand side to the left hand side in Thunderbird 115.2.2?
The following CSS code (inside userChrome.css, inside a newly created chrome folder in my profile) works for my Firefox program, but apparently does not work for Thunderbird 115.
/* Move the APPLICATION MENU, 3-bar button, to the left & change its color */
#PanelUI-button { order:-1 !important; color: yellow }
Can anyone please tell me what the CSS code is to move the position of the Thunderbird/Application Menu? Many thanks, Rick

How can I move the standard file menu above the new "spaces" toolbar in Thunderbird v115? Why does the spaces toolbar take up the system title bar area?
