hi, snap thunderbird 155.0-1 ubuntu 24.04 keeps asking for passwords of all email accounts after upgrading thunderbird. all passwords are correct and they were not changed. the issue started today after thunderbird was upgraded to 155.0-1. this new version seems to have touched on oauth: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/155.0/releasenotes/

I am struggling to set up calendar and contacts sync between Thunderbird (v155@ubuntu26.04) and my google account. I use a university account to access google services, so my google account is not some.name@gmail.com but some.name@myuniversity.cz. I understand that Thunderbird somehow needs to invoke OAuth2 process with google, but I do not know, what to fill in the "Hostname" or "Location" fields for Contacts and Calendar, respectively. Any help? Thank you.

In the last couple of days I’ve had a couple of alerts from TB when in other apps, seemingly random times, but possibly when I get an email (from memory, about Thunderbird requiring access to my Google account). I haven’t received any emails for a couple of days and I can’t send them (connection to Outgoing server smtp.gmail.com timed out). But, in TB account settings an outgoing server test was successful (Successfully established a secure connection to smtp.gmail.com:465). I also can’t pause calendar reminders, whatever I do they stay on the screen (but I can delete them with the X in the top-right corner). I haven’t changed anything in my TB or Google account settings. I’ve checked authorisations in my google account and TB auth is there. On my (android) phone, I can send and receive emails OK. OS Name: Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS OS Build: (null) OS Type: 64-bit GNOME Version: 46 Windowing System: Wayland Kernel Version: Linux 7.0.0-30-generic

Could somebody please tell me what settings I did not make ....

I have four gmail accounts, say A, B, C and D. A is the default.

If I send a message from B to an outside email address, the reply routing is returned to the A address and not the B sending address.

If I send a message from B to C then the message is not received anywhere, it simply disappears.

If I open a browser and send a message from B to C then the message is delivered. So I know that the problem is with Thunderbird and not the email service.

Please tell me what I need to change in the settings ....

I have two Gmail accounts and one school account that uses Office 365. In the left panel where the inbox, drafts, etc. are, the Gmail accounts are listed in blue but the school account is listed in white. I can't see any reason for this difference in the accounts' settings. What does the difference indicate?

I have been using Thunderbird since its inception. I have noticed a pattern recently where more spam and phishing messages present encryption when I "view source". Normally, the text is visible.

Just curious regarding their technique, how that works and whether it can be resolved.

I am using Thunderbird 140.12.0esr 64 bit under Linux. I was obliged to change my Gmail password. I deleted my Gmail account from Thunderbird. I than proceeded to Add a new account and entered my Gmail account and new password. A blank window popped up: 'https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/auth?response_type=code&client_id=406964657835-aq8lmia8j95dhl1a2bvharmfk3t1hgqj.apps.googleusercontent.com&redirect_uri=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost&scope=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2F+https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fcarddav+https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fcalendar&login_hint=gizzenbriggs%40gmail.com' I suspect that this is from Google asking me to confirm my password. Unfortunately the window is blank and I cannot enter anything. Consequently I cannot add a new email account to Thunderbird.

Every time I try to open Thunderbird mail, I get a screen to install it again!!. Why is this.?? Is there a way to keep it installed.? Or must I jump through hoops each time I need to use email.?

Hi I tried to google this but as you can guess that was a exercise in futility.

So I installed thunderbird via flatpac as suggested by the main website

I went to account add a account entered my email and password.

Clicked continue twice setup filled in the info and got a error saying

Authentication error.

Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.

now i know both are correct as i logged in vai firefox and checked both excepted.

so I tried to google the settings of incoming and outgoing 4 out of 5 pages i found where set as the pc has set it.

at a loss now guys no clue what to do any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a possibility to customize the font size of OUTGOING mails (not the incoming, these I could already change). For example, what term should I search for in the advanced settings?

I've often wondered what the point of 'extended support release' (I think) really means. It sounds retrograde. Should I switch/upgrade?

This is simple. Getting here is not. The issue is the zoom feature which many years ago I could not find. Now it is available and that is great, except: The CTRL + and CTRL - do not work until you first use the function in the menu. Once I use it in the menu I can use the key stroke several times to get it where I can read it. Every time though I have to go to the View function in the menu first. Simple fix.

Somehow my account folder has duplicated itself, complete with Inbox, Drafts, Sent and Trash. Going to Settings, I can't see any difference. Both continue to be updated with new mail. How can I delete the duplicate? I see nothing in 'Account Settings' that would let me delete it.

I bought a new computer and want to transfer my emails, calendar and anything else to start using Thunderbird and lightning. I don't want to lose any information. I hope it will be seamless as I use it for business. Both Computers are Dell Laptop with Ubuntu . I am just really old and not too savvy with tech stuff. I want to copy my windows Thunderbird profile to Linux but my Profile Directory will not open when I press open directory. I downloaded Thunderbird from the Zorin app store, and it may be a flatpak or something – it won’t tell me now because I have already installed it – but I believe that could be a reason for the directory not opening. Is there a non-PC-literate way of finding out and fixing this?

When choosing to edit a sent message as a 'new' message, placing the cursor at the beginning of the message and pressing <Enter> does not advance the text.

It used to.

Placing the cursor at any other location within the message WILL advance the text with <Enter>.

I CAN add text by typing, but the <Enter> key does nothing.

The intent of placing the cursor at the beginning of the message is to add a line to the previously sent email.

The chosen option of 'edit as new message' should work with <Enter> regardless of where the cursor is positioned.

Any chance of this being addressed?
