Starting in the last day or two, every time I start Firefox, in addition to my homepage, I get a nuisance tab that is checking my plugins. I need to disable this stupid function or I will have to discontinue using Mozilla Firefox after 20 years as a faithful Mozilla user. I am happy with, and have no intentions of upgrading, my version of Firefox (3.6.17). I also have no intentions of upgrading my Flash plugin as newer versions are incompatible with an online activity in which I engage.

I have followed instructions in the user forum for changing the status of plugins.update.notifyUser from true to false in "about:config", but it apparently resets itself to true. None of the user forum suggestions correct this problem. If this unwanted, stupid tab cannot be disabled, I guess I will have to abandon Mozilla, both for Firefox and Thunderbird, and pursue options that do not force unwanted content on the user.

In addition, it seems impossible to actually speak to anyone at Mozilla about the problem. So hopefully someone will answer this question with a solution to the problem.

EVERY time I open Mozilla Firefox to go online it opens to Bearshare, and I try to CHANGE it EVERY time! I will change the settings for the homepage and save, but once I turn it off, I am right back at the BEARSHARE SEARCH I HATE!!!! I want it removed PERMANENTLY from our computer but cannot get it out!!!! PLEASE HELP, I HATE BEARSHARE!

Is there anyway to disable the 'PluginCheck' website on firefox? It automatically opens up every time I open firefox. My home page also opens up as a separate tab so it's not the fact that my home page was changed (I also made sure in the settings). All my plugins are up to date so it's not that as well. It's extremely annoying. Help would greatly be appreciated.

I like to have a number of tabs open each time I use Firefox and have configured it accordingly. I have also configured the toolbar to use Google.

From time to time Firefox terminates abnormally (e.g. if the PC crashes) and then I lose all my tabs plus the toolbar has an extra line to use babylon search.

Is it possible for me to save information about all of my tabs in a backup file of my choosing so that I can restore the settings manually? What file does it have to be copied into to restore?

The babylon problem is less pressing as it is easy to lose that line - but it is still annoying.

How to get Coupons.com printer software to work with Firefox 3.6.17 on my Mac-Dual 2 GHz IBM Processors IB PowerPc G5 OSX Tiger 10.4.11; ; I've tried many things w/o sucess per coupons.com tech support; Safari 4.1.3 works-Firefox 3.6.17 doesn't work???

Hello, pop up ads coming up on my mac -

For the first time in 4 years, My mac is getting ads (looking like mac windows) for 'anti'malware' and ads (looking like mac) saying that I have viruses and to download to erase them. I have seen this twice this week. It is NOT from mac protection (although it looks like your computer and HD). This is happening in firefox - what can I do to block this??? (i already have blocked suspicious sites, etc)?

I called Mac - they said this is malicious software and has been happening in the last 2 weeks - to not download anything (which I hadn't) and that they ask for a credit card number and download possible viruses.

I changed something in my system preferences in safari - but use firefox usually - is there anything I can do in safari to not get these??

I have been unsuccessfully trying to logout, using the drop down for logout under account that I have used for years. It won't let me shut it down. I went in using Internet Explorer and it let me open and shut down, no problem.

It started couple of months ago. In the beginning it crashed only on some Youtube channels. Like if I clicked o a video that was on a proper channel like "BBC", the page loaded but in the middle it suddenly crashed with the error "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close". Then when I use to restart firefox it would say that it probably happened because of a new tab. Now I am fed up. My computer running XP crashed, so I bought a new one (Win 7). Not a big deal, because I keep my data in an outboard drive and backup regularly.

I want to restore my Firefox bookmarks, which ought to be somewhere in my backup sets. Problem is, I don't know what to look for.

I've found a couple of files named Bookmarks.html, but when I look at them they contain only the basic bookmarks contained in a fresh Firefox installation.

I know my bookmarks are somewhere in my backup sets, but where?

What filenames do I need to look for?

Each time I open firefox i receive the security warning window - sec_error_expired-certificate. Upon viewing the certificate it appears to come from "godaddy", I am unfamiliar with using their server or website's, please advise, Thanks Wade

In earlier versions of browsers, not necessarily Firefox, it used to be possible to launch a new tab or window with the same URL as the current window. I can't find a way to do this in Firefox. It always opens new windows with no URL specified.

Every time I turn off automatic updates I get a reminder anyway as soon as I restart firefox. the option to disable updates DOES NOT WORK. I also have to type a new question everytime cause there is no way to check what I've already asked and chat support has been down for DAYS. WTF? This is your MAIN product.

I have changed the homepage to www/startingpage.com several times, and every time Firefox changes it back to www.searchqu.com/405. These are not the same web pages. Maybe I should get rid of the Web Search bar that is occupying the right hand side of the tool bar, and maybe the problem would cease. How can I get rid of that Web Search? How can I stop Firefox from changing my home page?

When I download executable files (such as an upgrade for Firefox), a box appears that asks what I want to do with the file: Save or Cancel. There is never a Run option. Why?

startnow tool bar with bing just appeared on my foxfire tool bar. i tried deleting it from programs- it deleted from programs, but still appears in the tool bar! can you help?

I have no idea how I downloaded, much less installed, a toolbar named "Free Ride" or "FreeRide" but it happened while I was on Facebook if that is a clue. I cannot find it as an add-on, etc, in FF.
