bold textExperienced Firefox browser session freezes a month or two ago. It seemed that some March/April '24 fixes/patches stabilized the app. They are occurring again with increased frequency. What should I do to avoid this problem or switching to another browser? Thx

My "recovery.jsonlz4" file from a previous install will not reopen my previous session (tabs) after the new installation.

Before deleting my previous installation of Firefox (for a clean install), I did two things: I created a restore point, and I did a backup of my old data.

The data consists of: bookmarks-2024-05-10.json

These folders: C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Local C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Roaming C:\Computer Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution C:\Program Data\Mozilla-1de4eexxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

Within "Roaming" I have Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release\sessionstore-backups

In that sessionstore-backup, I have a "recovery.baklz4" (most recent session, I'm guessing) and three others that look like "upgrade.jsonlz4-2024xxxxxxxxxxx

With Firefox closed, I took a copy of "recovery.baklz4" (745 KB) and pasted it into the current sessionstore-backups file, then I changed the file to "recovery.jsonlz4".

I thought that when I reopened Firefox, my previous tabs would appear. They didn't. So, I went to the menu, then to History, and clicked on Recover Previous Session. That didn't do anything either. And it reduced the size of the *.jsonlz4 file from 745 KB to 6 KB.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Can you help me out?

I am having difficulty getting certain emails. I am told by the sender that they "bounce back as a spam warning" Sometimes I don't know the emails I am NOT getting until I'm told. Two my daughter tried sending me an email and it took over 24 hours to get and she was getting bounce back messages. I can't get "NextDoor" notifications, a store in London couldn't email me, a local contractor couldn't send me an email, etc.. It's random who can't email me, but it's becoming increasingly concerning. It's only certain, legitimate emails. I still get all the spam! Where should I begin? I'm on Windows 10 Pro, using a yahoo/att email through Thunderbird. thanks for any suggestions! Cindy

When I watch a video not in the full screen mod, the colors are as dark as they're supposed to be (pic 1), but when I enter the full screen mod, the video gets pale/brigher (pic2, compare the dark zones). it's fully connected with hardware acceleration. When it's on videos get pale and when it's off they don't. But I can't turn it off because I also need it for an addon I use as it won't work without it. Someone on the forum here said that turning on layers.force-active might help with a bug of hardware acceleration. I turned it on and it helped - acceleration was on and videos didn't get pale, but then everything got back and now this setting doesn't work anymore. I also opened trouble shooting mode and videos didn't get pale with it even with acceleration on, but I don't know why, becaues when I closed it I deleted all the extensions, turned on acceleration and videos got pale again. And, this problem is only in this browser. This problem really keeps my up at night and I'm so tired of it

This seems to be caused by Firefox. I don't have this problem with Edge, Chrome or Opera

Long ago I used to never have to hit F5 to see today's version of a page instead of the cached version, and I do NOT want to clear cache or cookies or history on exit, no, that's not the setting I'm looking for, thanks.

When photos, videos, or websites are linked on a FB comment, it used to display a thumbnail preview below the comment. Now it just shows the link. On mobile, the preview appears. So I'm thinking a setting got changed on the desktop version.

Does anyone know what the issue is and how to correct?

I used to have no problem opening messages.google.com/web/conversations to link my messages to my Pixel phone. Just recently the site will not open in Firefox. Not an error message, it just won't open the page.

Thunderbird email setup settings don't work with office365 server in godaddy email. Their server wants STARTTLS with port 993. When I select STARTTLS in Thunderbird setup, the port changes automatically to port 143. This I can't connect to godaddy's IMAP mail server using Thunderbird email client. Is there a way to make it happen?

I often have many tabs open (25+) I have made it so tab shrink way more then normal (I like the way chrome handles tabs where they basically just shrink infinitely. Firefox doesn't do it's even with my twerks but ohwell.)

so when i want to click on a tab with audio playing at a small size i often mute the tab instead of clicking on the tab

Where and how can i remove the mute button that appears when hovering over tabs with audio playing?

I have never found that mute button useful so removing it will not impact me

Since my Firefox browser has many issues these days, I tried to reinstall it but forgot to leave the box next to “Remove My Firefox Personal Data and Customization” unchecked when I proceeded with the installation.

I don't have any manual backup of my Window 11 system or bookmarks / passwords stored on Firefox. And all Firefox folders now have a last-modified time later than the time when I clicked the installation file. Thus, I guess my bookmarks / passwords stored over the past two years are forever gone. But I would like to make sure that it is really the case so that I can move on and start feeling better.

I understand it was completely my careless mistake. But your kind feedback would really, really be appreciated.

I found this description of how to use a thunderbird email template online:

Open the template from the Templates folder whenever you want to use it to send a message. Make any additions or changes to the message, and then click the "Send" button to send it. If you don't want to send the message at once, you can select "Save" from the toolbar, and Thunderbird will save the modified message in the Drafts folder, leaving the template unchanged.

The problem is, that when I open a template (right-clicking to open it in a new window), I can't make any changes at all. I can't even delete the dummy recipient and replace it with the one I want. What is missing here? Thank you.

Why you create Mozilla account with sync, if I can't use profile which I saved on my old PC. I change my PC and now I can't use my open tabs as needed, I need to open each tab one by one. Why ??? Why I can't use saved profile on my new PC ??????

I can't sign into my TracFone account on FireFox or FireFox Private Window. But I "can" sign on in Chrome. Is there someway to fix this as FireFox is my main default browser.

When I pull up my settings, it states that my browser is being monitored by my organization. The problem is that my laptop is my private laptop and not connected to any organization, at least, not with my knowledge. When I click on the link associated with the message, it lists two policy names. One policy value is locked with the word true after it. The other policy value is unlocked with the word false after it. What do I do?

Sadly I had to thoroughly uninstall Thunderbird, reinstall and create new mailboxes due to some strange reason. In the past, the inbox would show the email list and, if clicked, a message would show up below a separator line. Now only the list shows up and I have to double click to read it which opens a new window. What a pain!

And yes, I know I can view the message page using F8 but it is on the right side and shorten the other windows.

Is there a way to go back to the view option I had in previously?

Hi there! I made a screen-shot just in case I don't explain this well :) In my inboxes this works well on both my emails - the "groups" 'today, yesterday, last 7, last 14 & older' are all expanded all the time. (see image)

This is however not the case in other folders like sent, junk, deleted etc. I need to manually click the name "today/yesterday etc." to expand it. Next time I go to that folder again, they are all 'un-expanded/closed/collapsed' again.

I would like them to be expanded as default all-the-time in every folder I have! Is there a setting for this somewhere that I can set to 'true' or just check a box?
