I downloaded Mozilla Firefox into my computer, but it wont open, what do i do?

My computer is an old computer (COMPAQ PRESARIO 140) and the only internet portals it has are Internet Explorer (old) and Netscape Navigator. I decided I want to put in MOzilla Firefox, because alot of websites I go to are not supported by these internet portals. So I went to mozilla.com and downloaded Mozilla Firefox 4.o it downloaded and the downloads thingy popped up, but when I clicked open, it said "Extracting" and then the extracting page closed and then nothing happened, and I waited and still nothing happened. WHat do I do?
