ff freezes will not close after visiting a few sites & have to hard start for ff to work

when i open ff and search a few sites ff stops responding. i close ff and when i try to reopen ff it tells me that ff is still running. i have tried to restart from the start menu but my pc freezes, the only way i can fix this is i have to hard start my pc. this happens over and over. can you help me with this? thanks
