Firefox will not d/l files if
Firefox was working fine thru February 24th. At that point I could not download files to my desktop and even previous to that was experiencing frequent crashes.
1. Have reset Firefox 2. Have uninstalled Firefox 3. Have uninstalled Firefox including all my settings. 4. Have disabled all AV and Anti-Malware programs.
Scenario 1 - If I set option to have it download files to "R:\ Downloads" it works fine .... I see the progress bar complete, I find the file in the download manager and the file is in the appropriate folder on the HD
Scenario 2 - If I set it to save to "Ask me where to save files" ...as it has been since the early days of Mozilla, it pops up the file selection window which I browse and select "R:\Downloads" and then nothing happens. No progress bar, nothing in download manager and no file on HD.
And yes, it's not an access issue as both file locations on are same in Scenarios 1 and 2.

Is R:\ a network location, a partition of an internal drive, or some kind of removable storage?
Do you want to try Firefox 26? Although it lacks some security updates, it may be worth a quick test to see whether this issue is specific to Firefox 27.0 / 27.0.1. You can download it using a link in the following article. You do not need to uninstall Firefox 27.0.1 before running it. Install an older version of Firefox.
Thx for ya reply
I don't see as it would matter as FF recognizes it when instructed to d/l everything there, just doesn't work when "ask me" selected.
All are local drives ....ask me doesn't work on any of them
SSD No. 1 = 256 GB = C:\ Operating System / Programs SSD No. 2 = 256 GB = D:\ Alternate Boot / Games
Hybrid Seagate 2 TB SSHD No. 1 = Q:\ thru V:\ Hybrid Seagate 2 TB SSHD No. 2 = Backup of above
Not RAID .... the twin 2 TB were at one point but found separate drives more useful and less headaches.
Given the rate of releases was going to wait until 28..... but as i recall was same way on 26.
There was a substantial change to the download-related code in Firefox 26, and various bugs are in the process of being fixed related to that. I don't know whether you are encountering something already in process or something new.
If you are choose to save on the same logical drive as your system TEMP folder (typically in your C:\Users folder, unless you moved it), does it work any better?
Did what you suggested and it worked ....
Did what I was originally doing and it worked ....
Go figure. Rebooted and tried again and all is right with the world for the 1st time since Feb 24
