Lost emails
I've just opened Thunderbird and a lot of my emails - archived and otherwise - have disappeared. some of these relate to legal matters that are ongoing, some are about making my will. Where are they? I can't find them. If I search fro the first name of one of the people involved it finds 4 emails, but there are only 2 in the folder and there should be something like 6. I'm desperate to retrieve these emails - where are they and why have they vanished?

It's probably just an indexing issue. You can rebuild the index files by repairing the affected folder. Simply right-click the affected folder, select Properties then click Repair Folder.
That worked, thank you so much! You're a genius and I'm no longer unhappy.
I was too hasty there. It worked on one folder. On the others when I cick on repair it says there's nothing there. On one folder it says there are 12 messages but only 6 are showing. Sigh.
