inbox emails are missing

For an unknown reason, about six months of emails have vanished from my IMAP inbox. Using TB 68.12.1 on a windows 10 machine.

I'm have messages from the present back to yesterday, then there's a jump to messages from last year, but all my messages from this year are gone. BTW I thought I had archived last year's messages but now some of them are in the inbox.
