Migrated 2 Accounts/profiles from old PC to new PC; Folders of both accounts now in left column and only 1 abook showing.acc'ts now
All the messages and folders in both accounts are there, but they are all in the left column, with one on the top and then at the end of that one the next account starts. Only one address book showed up and it is the collected address book for the top account, but it is the only one when I click on Address Book. It has been 8 years since I did this last and I didn't have this problem. I tried to set up the Profile Manager without success and this may be where the accounts got "combined". At the top of the column there is the email address that is in use. Under that from left to right: "Get Messages", "Write" ,"Chat", "Address Book". No "File",Tools" etc. as is normal. When I click on the bold email address the page shows the options:
EMAIL -
Read Messages Write a new message ACCOUNTS- View Settings Set Up An Account, etc;
ADVANCED FEATURES
The address book for the "top account" has disappeared from the old PC, but I think I have it on the DVD that I used to transfer the profiles from one PC to the other. The instructions said that when the profile was pasted into the new PC that abook.MAB and History. MAB would be recognized but the others would not. That evidently didn't happen. I need to go on line and look at what is on the line at the Google servers.
One of the answers on other questions stated the TB program is not a cache. So here is one of my questions: Which program is in charge? G Mail or TB realizing that it depends on what the activity is.

I don't think I understand what the problem is. Folders are always in the folder pane - which is the 'left column' in the main Thunderbird window.

Address books in Thunderbird are global, and not account specific. There should be a Personal Address Book though. If you manually created any more address books they should all be there when simply copying over the profile. You cannot copy and paste any additional address book files into a profile later.

You cannot 'set up' the profile manager. It's just there and you can start it. So it's not clear what you did and what the problem was. What were you trying to achieve with the profile manager in the first place?
this may be where the accounts got "combined".
You'd need to explain in more detail what that means.
At the top of the column there is the email address that is in use.
What column? It's important to use the proper terminology to avoid confusion. This article may help. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Window_layout_-_Thunderbird
The address book for the "top account" has disappeared from the old PC,
That would explain why it's still not there after copying over the profile.
The instructions said that when the profile was pasted into the new PC that abook.MAB and History. MAB would be recognized but the others would not.
What instructions? Please post a link.

Please post a link. There is no point guessing what this is about without the context.
So here is one of my questions: Which program is in charge? G Mail or TB realizing that it depends on what the activity is.
Please rephrase your question. What are you trying to achieve, or what problem are you trying to solve?
I have looked briefly at the layout article. I have never used this layout b4, and thought it was screwed up. It is not the layout that is currently on the old PC. Let me look at the article to get my terminology right and then repost.
