My operating system was destroyed i have my hard drive trying to get folders from my email account from that computer how could do that.

Mu operating system was destroyed. I had to move to a different computer. I have the hard drive from the old computer. I am trying to figure out how to get the labeled folders back so I can retrieve the information. I had the computer for 9 years and the folders have training information in them that I can't get back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are they both Windows systems? Assuming so...

First, enable viewing of hidden files and folders. This article from Microsoft support might help: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Next, explore your old hard drive under the c:\Users path (no longer c: but whatever it is) for your Thunderbird profile folder. This article describes where that file usually is located:

See: Profiles - Where Thunderbird stores your messages and other user data

Can you find the old folder? Assuming so, then the next step is to migrate it to your new hard drive. As a first step in that process, I suggest copying the old profile folder to a new TBTemp folder on your desktop. To do that you can:

  • In the \Thunderbird\Profiles folder on your old hard drive , right-click the semi-randomly-named profile folder and choose Copy
  • On your desktop, right-click > New > Folder, and name it TBTemp
  • Double-click into TBTemp, right-click a blank area > Paste

This should create a copy of your old profile folder.

So far so good?
