Using firefox for yahoo-open private brouser-BING logo appears! Never have used it!
In the last few days, when I use private browsing (I use Firefox for Yahoo) and click enter to join a site, a BING logo appears beside "private browsing" in the upper left hand corner. I have had other browser's try to sneak in before and I just go to programs or my hard drive and eliminate them. I tried this on Bing (which I have never used) found it in in programs and killed it. To make sure, I looked through my computer etc. and found no trace. So, I go back to see if it worked. NOPE! Still there, even if you try a separate TAB. I see the purple mask that says I'm in private mode, but I don't feel that I am with that BING logo indicating their in control. I seem to remember there used to be a FIREFOX logo up in the search area before I got the NEW Firefox? Now all I see is Yahoo. Since I'm using your menu for everything, I assume it doesn't matter.
I would appreciate knowing what's going on. I tried Bing way back, didn't like it an have never had it on my computer since. Don't know how they can just suddenly appear?

Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you.
I followed all instructions except that I did not find Firefox for Yahoo on Mozilla. org. So, I went to the Web and found Yahoo's official download and then followed all instructions. On completion, I tried Private browsing again and up comes bing again. I was in a new tab so I left it there. I then delete that and went back to original tab. Now get this! I clicked on the back button and it goes to a new page which now has the privacy mask sitting where BING was?
As long as I see that...I'm satisfied. But I still do not understand how with no BING installed anywhere on my computer, it can show up this way and supplant FIREFOX and YAHOO? I would really like to know. Maneman
