How do I stop Firefox from shutting down every time I close a web page?

Have been using Firebox for about a five days. Every time I try to close a web page, I get the message "You are about to close 2 tabs. Are you sure you want to continue?" If I click on no, I'm back to square one; if I click on yes, Firefox shuts down completely. How can I change this setting?

This is because you are closing the actual window, not the tab itself. You can learn more about tabs in the article, Tabbed Browsing.
