desktop icon does not show upgraded start page can I change this?

I had a desktop icon from an earlier version of Firefox however when I upgraded to Firefox 7 the icon still brings up the old version. Is there a way to change it? I did get a new icon on my task bar and have tried right clicking and dragging to desktop with no success. It continues to be the old version, even after deleting the old icon.

I appologize if this turns out to be too simple-minded:

  1. Rightclick on the icon
  2. Select properties
  3. in the multitab (6x) window select "Links" (*)
  4. at the bottom of the tab field you will find "change icon" button

  1. First, delete the icon on your desktop.
  2. Then go to the start menu > all programs and right-click on the new Firefox.
    • You should see a "send-to" option. Selecting "desktop" will put a new icon on your desktop for you.
