The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions. Do a clean reinstall. See: Browser will not start up - XUL Runner error after an update
- Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version.
- Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version
- Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
- See Uninstalling Firefox and Uninstalling Firefox (Mozillazine)
- Also see: Backing up your information and Profile backup (Mozillazine)
- Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder/directory to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
- See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
- Install the fresh copy of Firefox that you downloaded in step 1

Not related to your question, but...
You need to update some plug-ins:
- Plug-in check: https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash or Flash): Updating Flash in Firefox

executed instructions, no cure. as soon it starts get message it does not start up
If you do not remove the program folder (step 3), the old file(s) causing the error are not removed. Did you remove/delete the old program folder and all of its contents?

yes i did, no solution
Sorry, as you can see in the first link in my first post ( Browser will not start up - XUL Runner error after an update ), the solution that I posted is the suggested solution for that error message.
Also in that article/paragraph: "This problem is sometimes caused by a security program (such as Zone Alarm Extreme Security, see below) that is preventing changes to the "application.ini" file when you update Firefox" followed by 3 links in blue to the Mozillazine forum; links numbered [4] [5] [6].
