McAfee site advisor not compatable with latest firefox update. Why update to a less secure situation?

I rely on McAfee "Site Advisor" and AVG "Safe Search" to protect me while I surf. The latest update to Firefox says "Site Advisor" and "Safe Search" are not compatable with the latest update. So until they will both work with Firefox I am discouraged from updating yet. Won't I be less secure without these two programs if I update to the latest Firefox? What is going to protect me?
