I keep getting updater.exe pop up that asks me to run, (is ok with Norton) then tries to connect to server, but never does. Is this ok or spyware, or worse.

I am worried about updater.exe that has just started to pop up and ask me to update, it tries to link to a server, but never does.

www postings have worried me somewhat, is this ok?

Have scanned with Norton (have 360) and Malwarebytes, but nothing is picked up. ?

Is this ok.

Many thanks

Brian

Which directory is it in? Use Windows Search utility to look for it, then right click it and choose Open Containing Folder, or Open File Location.

It might be legit, but maybe not. See http://www.threatexpert.com/files/updater.exe.html

Hi, thanks for reply.

It's in program files/mozillafirefox

On the file details it says it is a firefox software updater, created 12/09/2010 and is 248 kb.

If it is ok, it doesn't seem to work as, when it runs, the screen stays on 'trying to connect to server' for ages and never updates anything.

Thanks
