Firefox 4 will not run on PowerPC Macs, it will only work on Intel Macs. there is a third party version of Firefox 4 beta that will work on PowerPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

Thank you for your response. I thought that might have been the case. I thought I looked carefully on the site for that type of system specification but only found operating system, memory, and disk space requirements. Can you tell me where I missed this bit of info?

They have not yet published the system requirements for Firefox 4.0. Mozilla have mentioned it in the beta release notes where it states "This version of the beta will not work on Macintosh hardware with Power PC CPUs (see bug 587799)" - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0b8/releasenotes/
