tab summary
when you are browsing, is there any way to hide the title summary of a tab being displayed along the top?
if you are (for eg) searching for flowers, and the title summary says "flowers for sale" - and you don't want this title summary to be displayed

You can pin a tab for a while. See Pinned Tabs - keep favorite websites open and just a click away.
It's an interesting problem.
Pinning the tab is a good idea, but Firefox may launch a new regular tab if you follow a link to a different site, so if you are opening a bunch of search results, there would be a brief period of exposure before you pin the new tab, too.
In theory you could use Firefox's full screen view to hide the entire toolbar area, but that could be inconvenient.
As you may know, Firefox displays the title from the page. In this page, for example, it's:

There are extensions to modify page titles, but I think they work on a case-by-case basis and don't block all tabs at once. Also, they require full permission to access the page, so you might not be comfortable with that. If you wanted to see a couple examples:

One advantage of modifying the page title would be to cover your tracks on the History menu, if that is a priority. (Of course, the full URLs would still be available in history, only the title would be changed.)
By the way, if the problem is the title bar that shows the full title, there's a checkbox to turn that on/off in the lower left corner of the Customize page: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
You can toggle the title bar on/off via the "Title Bar" button at the bottom left in the Customize palette window.
