I reinstalled Firefox on my desktop. I lost all my favorites and bookmarks. I still have them on my laptop. How do I sync, retrieve them form my laptop, not erase them from by laptop?

Have you tried logging into the FF account from the PC?

If however, no FF account for syncing has ever been used between the machines, then from the laptop create a new FF account then sync the data up to it.

Log out.

Then use that login on the pc to sync and download the laptop data.
