Hi. I am having problems with "Select Command is not valid in this state" errors on Thunderbird. Sky is my ISP so I have a sky.com email account. Thunderbird opens without any of my folders showing and shows the error. I switch to Safe Mode and after a bit of fiddling the folders repopulate. I still get the error showing up whilst using Safe Mode. I have to shut down and restart a few times before it works. I am using a brand new install on a brand new computer. I had the same problem on my old machine so it is not a clash with other software. I have searched through the net and have changed my password as suggested and a few other things no luck . I would appreciate any help that you can provide.

Have you tried removing all passwords from Options/Privacy & Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restarting TB, and entering an app password when prompted for a password? The app password is created on the Sky website.

Another option is to use the Yahoo servers with your Sky account and apply OAuth2 authentication:
