Can't import address book or email from Outlook 2007

I just installed the latest version of Thunderbird with Win7. (I see no way to find the version number, sorry.) I'm trying without success to import my address book from Outlook 2007 which is on another Win7 laptop. I get error messages. In the case of the address book, the message that no address book was found. Other than this, Thunderbird seems to be working well. I'm not a techie, just an old guy who uses email a lot. Any help will be much appreciated.

Export the Outlook contacts on the W7 laptop to a csv file and import to TB. Contacts can also be exported as individual vCards, merged to a single .vcf file, then imported to TB.
