Error message received is: The folder 'Inbox' cannot be compacted because another operation is in progress. Please try again later.

I can leave Thunderbird open for days and try this, in case there were sending/receiving processes, or I can try immediately. Same message.

That did not solve the problem. I changed the settings, and even updated to the latest version of Thunderbird, and neither one solved the problem.
