Uninstalled first install after screwed up importing PC profile. Now can't get 2nd install to work. Have now deleted Thunderbird folder in Library. One article said something about .parentlock, but can't find. Any suggestions about how I can completely start over?

I think you want to delete the .parentlock from the profile folder, which is separate from the program directory:

Removing the Thunderbird folder in Library will remove all profile folders, if you want a clean start:
