There was an error saving the message to Sent. Retry?

I am suddenly unable to send email from my primary account via Thunderbird. I get an endless loop of "There was an error saving the message to Sent. Retry?" and "Copy Failed"

I've tried compacting all folders, compacting just the sent folder.

If I go to the provider's webmail interface (not my preference) I can send email without an issue.

I tried repairing the Sent folder. Thunderbird deleted my Sent folder (as shown in File Explorer) and its messages in Thunderbird. It also hangs up on that Sent folder, with a wait circle going round and round.
