How can I store messages on my PC in encrypted form (POP)?i
I use POP on a PC. I have a folder with both sent and received messages which contain materials for which I have signed a confidentiality agreement. The message stream is ongoing, I receive or send a handful of messages each week. I wish to make the folder, or at least its contents, secure on my PC, which I believes means encrypting them In storage on the PC, not just in transit. Is there a straightforward way to do this? The only way I see so far is to archive them to a client side encrypted folder, but how do I then access them on a regular basis? Could I create a new account, which uses an encrypted folder, then transfer the messages to that account? Is there a Thunderbird feature or add on for this that I have missed?

I think you need to be using disk encryption technology.

The simplest approach would be to place your entire profile on the encrypted volume.
If you need to separate this data from other email data, then you could use the Local Directory setting to set just the appropriate account to use the encrypted volume.
