When I started Mozilla Thunderbird today, all my accounts and folders had gone. I had created a number of folders where I kept a number of mails: all gone. I had to reintroduce all my accounts. Is there any way to get my old lost folders and messages back? The only thing that was not affected is my addressbook. Thanks for helping me out. I am using Windows 8.

Hello Zenos,

thanks for your help. I think your answer was pointing to the correct cause and therfore to the correct solution, but I cannot find anyway the old lost profile back. I will continue to look with the help of the link you gave me, but I am only an amateur, so even with the article I have problems of understanding everything and finding the solution. I am working on Microsoft 8 and most articles don't mention that system either. But thanks again, I might be able to find it!

Dear Zenos,

I was able to restore everything this evening. Yesterday I made the hidden files visible: maybe that is why suddenly I found my profile and "old versions" so I was able to paste copy my old version in the new one. I cannot really explain well what and how I did it, but without your suggestion I would never had found the solution. Thank you again!!!
