Firefox crashes
About 2 weeks ago, for no apparent reason, Firefox began exhibiting two problems: (a) it constantly tells me it cannot find whatever page it is I'm trying to load, or it loads the page without graphics. I have to reload once or twice to access whatever page I want. There's no particular type of page it won't load - news, facebook, whatever ... (b) after I've closed the browser, I get a crash message nearly every time. Each time I've sent a report, but nothing has helped. Sometimes I close it, then remember something and want to reopen it, and I cannot - I get a message saying it's in use and I should reboot. If I wait a while, then I get the crash report message and I can reopen then.
I've tried all of the things suggested on the help page, but none of it works. I am running Windows 8.1 on a laptop that is less than a year old, and I'm using the latest version of Firefox.
Also, I just tried installing the software for troubleshooting, as instructed on this page, and could not do it. The message said Firefox prevented installation due to a "connection failure" - of its own program. I could not do it manually, either, since there is no menu item at the top of my screen called "help," unfortunately.
Can youhelp?

hello saraweaves, are you using avast 2015 as your security software? if so please disable https-scanning within its settings, this might address both of the mentioned problems...
