My home connection is dial-up and to download a 40MB "upgrade" solution would take about 2 hours. I use a public computer with a high-speed connection to download install packages of all the software I use. I can save these packages to a flash drive to bring home to run on my computer. The Mozilla "upgade" solution tries to upgrade the public computer. I do not get a transportable install package. Of course this does me no good. Also, if I have a standalone installation package, I can keep it incase I need to re-install, or if I want to share Firefox with someone else.
