Mozilla works with advertising partners to place sponsored shortcuts and Sponsored stories on the new tab page. These are always clearly marked and you have control over whether they are shown on your new tab. Privacy is fundamental to Mozilla’s mission, and we only work with advertising partners that meet our privacy standards for Firefox.

Sponsored shortcuts is a feature available in specific regions, including the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, India, and Japan; other locations will be added over time. Mozilla works with advertising partners to place sponsored shortcuts on the default Firefox home page and [[New Tab page in Firefox|new tab]] page that would be useful to Firefox users. Mozilla is paid when users click on sponsored shortcuts.
