My bank is telling me that my browser is not secure. I check my account daily and this is the first time I have received this notification. What must I do to renew security?

Old non-tech guy, perplexed... Our 2009 MacBook Pro is physically perfect, but it has OS 10.11.6. Apple's server said "no" to OS 11 or maybe even 10.12; I cannot recall which. (The 2015-16 Mac is fine with OS 12.6.3 and FF 110). Apple long ago quit supporting the older Safari. The older Mac's Firefox works well but seems stuck on FF 78.15esr. In FF Preferences it says "Firefox is up to date." Bravo, _if_ enduringly true. But I sense, among the hi-tek jabber, that even security support for 78.15 is ending soon or already has (esr is also up to about #110). Someone said "You're stuck if you cannot upgrade OS to 10.12 or higher." We have no interest in new features but need email and ordinary browsing. I can afford the cost of new hardware and app-banditry, but not the stress of shopping, migrating, and struggling through the learning curve much less a security breach. What can we do?

Hello! I have Firefox, version 78.15.0 installed on my mac OSX 10.11.6. A few days ago I lost the ability to use messenger in FaceBook. I cannot send or receive messages from others. When I click on messages, nothing happens. This happened suddenly. Otherwise, Firefox works as normal on my older mac. Can you give me a hint as to what is causing this? I need to access an essential security device that has an address similar to my modem, with numbers and periods only. But Firefox consistently adds either "HTTP" or "HTTPS" to the address, so Firefox says, “Unable to connect.” I am able to access my modem page without Firefox adding anything to the address. The instructions I found (at Support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/https-only-prefs) say to disable or insert exceptions in the “HTTPS only" option on the “Privacy and Security” section of Firefox Preferences. However, there is NO "HTTPS only" selection in my Preferences (Version 78.150esr). The other suggestion, to “Click the Lock icon in the address bar,” will not work because there is no Lock icon in the address bar with this address. I have "Use the address bar for search. . ." unchecked in the "Search" section of Firefox Preferences. I also tried unchecking “Provide search suggestions,” disabling all of my Firefox extensions, and using “non-private browsing” mode. Safari browser will not connect to this URL either. Help!

I'm running Firefox 78.15.0esr on El Capitan 10.11.6 on my Mac Pro 4,1, 2009, because they are the last updates the computer can run.

Since approx 24 Sept, 10 days ago, I'v consistently been experiencing two types of glitch:

1. I can't UPLOAD photos to web sites. One says 'parse error'. Interestingly, the same is happening on WhatsApp (version 2.2236.10).

2. On some websites – a minority, but including Google sites – pages either don't load at all, they hang when loading, or they load without graphics content, or they load completely 'ASCII'.

I'm wondering whether it's either 1. a tweak in Firefox, or 2. a tweal in Mac OS 10.11.6, or 3. some other in global internet protocols that my old browser and old WhatsApp can't cope with

...or something else. Is the same happening to anyone else? Any ideas, anyone?

Two questions regarding FireFox ESR for legacy macOS:

Is there any plan to make Yelp compatible with FireFox ESR? It hasn't worked correctly for a couple of years…

With the conversion from Intel to Apple Silicone macs, any idea how much longer will FireFox ESR support the Intel platform?

I just "discovered" the existence of ESR, as 78.15 on my wife's beloved 2009 Mac OS 10.11. Our newer Mac is ok with OS 12.6 and Firefox 110, auto updating. We dislike relentless whiz-bang changes, and need just email, simple games, and basic browsing on the older Mac; email, moderate browsing, flight simulation, and some streaming on the newer. In plain English, please, what are pro and con of switching it to ESR?

Using Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 and Firefox 75.15.0 esr

I have a number of desktops defined in "spaces" and each app goes into one. Something odd has happened with Firefox.

When I select a different Window from the Window dropdown, or from the Dock, sometimes there is a "sliding sideways" effect.

And if I go into Firefox by going to the Dock and tapping its icon - it goes to one window; BUT if go to the Dock and tap again, it changes to another window. I think, always the same two.

So its sort of behaving like "spaces" does, but when I view all the "desktops" in the selection view at the top of the screen, I only see one containing Firefox windows.

Its really annoying when the window changes like that, and I don't know how to get them into a single grouping. I have quit & reopened many times, but it persists.

If I knew which of the Firefox Windows were in each of these glitchy "pseudo-groups" then I might quit all of one group, and then re-open them. Not sure if there are just two such pseudo-groups, or more.

Firefox is denying access to Astound/wave mail. About 3 days ago Firefox posted a warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead. I am wondering if my recent activity is the cause. On October 23 my MasterCard account was charged $2.99 by a firm in Cyprus. MasterCard is investigating, and suggested that the card be cancelled, with a new card to arrive in the mail. They also advised that I alert my contacts that use MasterCard. In that process I attempted to change my password with Astound/Wave. But, every time I tried is was rejected. I Tried about a dozen times, one attempt right after another. I am thinking that that activity alerted Firefox that someone, other than me, was attempting to learn my information. Just seeing a dozen actions in a brief amount of time should have caused concern for me.

Is this possibly why Firefox is blocking our access to Astound/WAve mail?

I did a refresh yesterday and lost my passwords. I have another computer where the passwords are functioning and I have the "old file" but I don't know how to use it. I clicked on the old file, but just came up with another file called EP7i0nok. It doesn't do anything but it just opens up and it doesn't have anything to restore data.

my mac desk top is version 10.11.6 its from year manufactured 2008 no more updates available, dont understand how to keep my old desk top from 20087 usable with firefox after March 31st 2024

I use Firefox (78.15.0esr) to access Ancestry.com. I use a MacBookPro 15in (late 2013) fully rammed etc. Also tried the same procedure on another MacBookPro 13in (late 2015) with same result. Also updated Java to ensure latest version.

What I have done: I approached Ancestry and was sent several generic FAQ URL's (https://support.ancestry.com/s/article/Fixing-Page-or-Button-Problems-on-Ancestry?language=en_US) suggesting clear cache etc. • Have tried all of their 'suggestions' (and on a second computer) with no benefit. Any ideas on what I could do to rectify the issues? • The people assisting don't appear to understand HTML.

hi, i see this often: "Website will not allow Firefox to display the page if another site has embedded it".

this usually happens when i click on a trusted site's "help" tab or button. this is a new problem that just started a week or so ago. {eg, gmail and youtube} please, how can i set it so i can see these view?

HI. Firefox seems to be logging me out of all my sites when I turn off my desktop. In some cases, it won't even let me access certain login screens. I've already followed instructions about resetting cookie/login/search history settings, etc, but it doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any ideas/advice?
