Can you clarify what you mean by, "I get a window asking to retry or close"?

Do you mean that when you try to start Firefox in safemode by holding down the shift key while starting it, you get the message, "Firefox is already running but is not responding"?

Sorry you are having problems with Firefox crashing.

I note from the info aside that you have posted a Crash ID, and so are likely to have looked at the article firefox crashes. I also note that it appears to have been a startup crash and not in safemode.

Try again starting Firefox in safe mode <-- clickable link for instructions --

• one way to do that is to hold the keyboard shift key when you click the Firefox shortcut
• no need to make any changes in the first Window listing options, just click on continue

If starting in safe mode works that is an improvement and we can investigate further. If it does not work the next step is to create and use a new profile. Ensure the profile is a clean one with no extensions or plugins see

I know you have tried re-installing, but if you do need to try that again please try a clean re-install which involves deleting the firefox program files as instructed in

• and please re-read firefox crashes and follow the advice including checking everything is up-to-date. (It conceivably could be some bad update, that initially caused the crashes but we will cross that bridge when we come to it)
