There used to be a folder called "From Firefox" I had quite a lot of bookmarks in it. That folder has disappeared, taking all those book marks with it. Why?

Using Windows XP. This afternoon that folder existed. I went online a few minutes ago and it is gone. I went through the Backup and Restore process but most of those book marks are very recent. The forty or fifty I lost weren't restore-able. No idea why this sudden drastic change.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I discovered that the folder had been moved inside the folder named "From Internet Explorer". I believe this is because at one time I moved a folder from that one to the Mozilla folder. Apparently some sort of maintenance activity decided to relocate the folder.

Thanks to cor-el for the effort to solve my problem.
