I opened a video file from word and it did not open a new window, however, the audio plays. I can not find a way to get rid of the audio. Now whenever I go to open firefox, the audio starts playing. Can you help get rid of it?

Try to delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Is there anything else that you could suggest? I put those files in the trash but everything's still here, including the audio.

You can try to Clear the Cache.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can check the home page setting.

You can also check the Download Manager (Tools > Downloads)

If that doesn't work then try a new profile.

See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files
