Selections in drop-down menus unintentionally highlighted

I downloaded Firefox 4 to my HP Envy 14 running Windows 7. When I select a drop-down menu (i.e. the Firefox or Bookmarks menus), as I scroll down the list, every selection my cursor passes over is highlighted, as though I'm holding down the left mouse button. Occasionally it will black out selections I have passed over. This does not occur in other programs.
