Some time after exporting/importing my bookmarks from Seamonkey to Firefox, I discovered that the bookmarks are being stored in folders on the root directory of my C: drive instead of in the places.sqlite database in my profile. I've tried searching this and other forums for hours, but have not found how to fix this situation. However, I have found others with this problem being told that it's not possible. That's certainly not much help to those of us experiencing it as we know that it IS possible. How do I get my bookmarks moved to where they belong ?

What is the file extension of the file where those bookmarks are stored? Or the name of the folder?

Also, what is the date on that folder, and the bookmarks file?

I just discovered that my issue has resolved itself sometime in the last couple of months. Since I installed two Firefox upgrades during that time, I assume one of them cleaned up this old issue.

The Windows folders where Firefox had been storing my bookmarks are still there and contain all my bookmarks originally imported as well as all those added from the time I installed Firefox. The only ones missing are the ones added in the last few weeks. Firefox is also now automatically backing up my bookmarks which it never did before.

I was never able to delete these folders while Firefox was running before, but now I can. Whatever caused the original issue is now resolved.

Firefox hasn't allowed the user to change where a Profile's bookmarks were stored since the Firefox 2.0.0.x versions. In those older versions, Firefox used a file named bookmarks.html for storing bookmarks.
