I need View Image
Firefox removed the "View Image" option from the right click menu. You can "open image in new tab" but that is not the same thing and is not what I'm trying to do. The inconvenience of this removal is driving me mad. "View Image" was literally the only thing Firefox had for me over Chrome and I would really like it back. Is there any way to customize or modify Firefox to regain this option? Or if a developer is hearing this, can you bring back that option somehow? I don't want to run an older version of FIrefox just to have it work, especially with the security risk that poses.

Unfortunately there is no built-in way to change the behavior from new tab to same tab. That would be nice.
One workaround involving two extra clicks is:
- right-click the image > Copy Image Link
- right-click the address bar > Paste and Go
You could consider installing an add-on to save the extra steps if you do this frequently. But the new items will appear at the bottom if the menu with other extension commands. For example, this one case up in a search and doesn't require many permissions:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/view-image-on-same-tab/

Thanks for the quick reply. Add-ons will have to do for now. Really do wish Firefox would stop removing functions with each update though.
This blows chunks. When I visit a site where I'd *want* to use View Image, I'm visiting that site FOR THE IMAGE. And now I have to open it in a separate tab - a foreground tab, no less, which leaves the old page still open, so now we all have to switch tabs to close the site we didn't want to stay open in the first place..?
Opening an image in a new tab WAS ALREADY POSSIBLE via Ctrl-click - now it's FORCED, and the only option to bring back the NORMAL BEHAVIOUR is to rely on third-party addons that you have to grant permissions.
Hi leohoeppner, no need to shout at support volunteers. Mozilla knows by now that many users preferred the old way.

That's true. I'm sorry, it wasn't right of me to blow up like that here. Thank you for using your time to help people with their problems on this site.
Since Firefox's feedback page has been closed down for months, I'm not sure where (or if) we're supposed to voice our feelings on things like this. Does Mozilla actually know/care that people prefer it the old way? The one semi-public statement about it that I've been able to find hails from the nightly version, where the issue was labelled as a "Won't Fix".

Is that the consolidated results of the bugs I was reading? Seems definitive, but who knows.
