OMG! I am so sick of Firefox updating itself!! Every time it updates, I have to kill all open windows to reload it. God, what a pain in the ass! In addition, I have set it not to auto update twice, and it reverted to auto update by itself. I am super SICK of these auto updates!! I want them to SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I want a control that allows me to KILL this feature. Auto updates suck all around. If I want to update, I will hit the update button.

I don't care what the engineering reason is for having it automatic. I have to use my phone hot spot for work, and I don't want Firefox eating my bandwidth downloading junk I don't want anyway. Please, oh please. God's of the internet, give me a NEVER DOWNLOAD button for FireFox.

Otherwise, I'm ditching Firefox. I can't take it any more.

The ability to block Firefox updates was removed because it's a severe security risk not to update. Each Firefox update typically contains between 10-30 fixes for known security vulnerabilities. Running older versions of Firefox will leave you exposed to these well documented holes.

While I would not recommend blocking Firefox updates, you can do so at your own risk using Windows Group Policy or a policies.json file. These policies are intended for business networks that will distribute updates using an alternative method other than the builtin Firefox updater.

The ability to disable updates will not be added to the Firefox settings because of the risk involved. The average user will find the Check for updates but let you choose to install them option more helpful. This will notify you when an update becomes available, but allow you to chose when to install the update.

Hope this helps.
