I am using firefox 57 and I noticed that it is using too much RAM, i.e. over 1GB with 4-5 tabs is it normal?

I am using firefox 57.0.4 with only two add-ons Add-block plus and browsing protection by f-secure. Currently I am having 5 tabs open one of which is gmail and the others are relatively "light" websites. the memory use is 1.2GB and that figure can get higher with use. I tried to refresh firefox and try to use it with no add-ons but once again I get RAM use of over 1GB. For me it seems a bit too much, but would it be normal? I am running Win10 on a system with 8GB of RAM.

Some what normal : Please : go to the Firefox 3 Bar Menu --> Options --> Privacy & Security panel and under Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

Monitor in Task Manager. Should stay below 2 gigs. If excessive then do below and monitor and change if need to...Test and go up again , go back down, it will eventually get a zone you and it can live with.

Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.
